Spring Leather Outfit Inspiration

Leather is by far my favorite fabric. It’s an easy staple in the fall and winter but with a little creativity, you can wear leather in the spring too.

You might be tempted to pack all your winter clothes away at the first hint of warm sunshine…

But before you jump straight to florals and sundresses, don’t forget spring is a transition season. The weather is still unpredictable in most parts of the country, which means it’s best to dress in layers—and what better way to do that than with spring leather?

Spring Leather Looks

Add an edge to your spring look with brown or black leather, like these shorts. Thigh-high boots add a sexy chic factor while keeping your legs warm. Choose a lightweight jacket that will keep you cozy without overheating.

My favorite brands to shop for spring leather are Khaite, Zeynep Arcay, Commando, and Alice + Olivia.

How to Wear Leather in the Spring

My rule of thumb for spring leather is to wear it sparingly. You might be able to pull off a full head-to-toe leather outfit in the winter, but spring is all about lighter looks.

Typically, I’ll pair leather shorts or a mini skirt with a flowy blouse (or tank top, depending on the climate). Choose breathable fabrics to stay cool in warmer weather.

Not sold on spring leather just yet? Work it into your accessories with a leather bag or shoes.

Softer Spring Looks

Believe it or not, spring pastels do exist in leather!

Baby blues, light pinks, and classic creams can be difficult to find, but they’re out there. The sleek leather gives these softer colors an edge. Check out these pale yellow mules from Khaite, or for a feminine touch, this pastel pink Zeynep Arcay jacket.

Warm, buttery brown is also big this season (like I’m wearing here). Try these wide-leg camel pants from Alice + Olivia.

Leather isn’t just for colder climates! Save room in your wardrobe for this classic fabric and use spring leather to transition your closet from one season to the next.
