Struggling to find the perfect holiday party outfit?

With so many events this season, it can be hard to keep things fresh. That’s why I’ve put together this look book: to help you find the perfect balance between timeless and trendy.

Whether you’re grabbing drinks with the girls downtown, attending a low-key family event, or want to look polished and professional for the annual office party…this holiday style guide has got you covered.

Browse the look book below for outfit inspiration and styling tips!

Know Your Occasion

The first step to choosing a spectacular holiday party outfit is to know your occasion.

You’re probably going to dress more conservatively for an office party than a girls’ night out, so cover your bases and add a few different styles to your holiday shopping list.

If you’re not sure about an event’s dress code, look up the venue online. Their website and social media should give you a good idea of whether to opt for a formal evening gown or something more fun and casual.

The Classic Black Dress

If you’ve got a busy schedule with lots of events and limited time to shop, go with a Little Black Dress. I love this sequined mock neck from Alexandre Vauthier. Versatile and elegant, a black dress can carry you through the rush of the holiday party season.

Pick One Shimmer

Glitter is a holiday staple, but the last thing you want is to overdo it and look like a disco ball. That’s why it’s best to stick with one shimmery tone in your outfit–don’t mix a glittery top with sequined bottoms or a metallic purse.

Once you pick your shimmer, choose complementary accessories; gold earrings with a gold dress or a silver purse with silver shoes.

A common theme can tie your look together, like the gold outfit below. The sequin blazer stands out as a statement item, while the dress and accessories complement the gold theme.

Going for a real statement piece? This red floor-length gown from Dolce & Gabbana is guaranteed to turn heads in every crowd.

Play with Texture and Color

Most people opt for gold, silver, or black at this time of year, so if you want to make a real entrance at the party, choose an unexpected color. I love this pale purple number from Rabanne.

When it comes to texture, there’s so much more to holiday fashion than sparkle and glitter. Kick things up a notch with this feathered emerald dress from Lapointe.

Don’t Forget Your Coat

Nothing says winter wonderland like a fur coat. I love this one from Magda Butrym – it’s the ultimate blend of chic and cozy (and so beautiful you won’t want to leave it in coat check!).

The perfect coat should keep you warm all night long without compromising on style. Look for pieces that elevate your outfit, instead of hiding it away.

Get Party-Ready with Chic Meets West

This season is the perfect time to step outside your comfort zone–to buy that daring dress you’ve been eyeing, try an edgy new look, or experiment with a bold texture you wouldn’t normally try.

Don’t forget to have fun with it! The most important thing is that you feel good in what you’re wearing.
